One Month

Adjusting to life with a newborn is different but wonderful. I'm scared to brag at how well Harper sleeps through the night! When we got home from the hospital she spent three nights in our room in the bassinet. On the fourth night home, my mom came to stay with us because it was going to be... DUM DUM DUM... Harper's first night in her crib. We created our nighttime routine of reading a story, swaddling, and saying our family prayers before we put her down.

My mom was so excited to play nurse (like my grandmother did for her--in a real nurses costume) but Harper didn't need any of us. My mom slept in the guest room next to Harper's room so she could bring her to me in our bedroom when it was time to nurse. I would nurse H and mom (aka Nona) would burp H and get her back to bed. We had an awesome plan. But H slept through the night. Instead of getting a good nights sleep, I was checking our video monitor too many times to count and my mom even caught me in the nursery checking on her at one point.

Harper was an awesome sleeper from the beginning. Of course she would nap all throughout the day as newborns do, and we would put her down around 9-10 pm. I would only have to nurse her once through the night at 4 or 5 in the morning and then she would go back to sleep until 7-8 am.

And that's how it's done, folks.

Just kidding, I did absolutely nothing to get her on that schedule, she just kind of did it herself.

THANK YOU SWEET JESUS.
